Festive Christmas Table - Our Christmas Dining Table

  The Mullaney's Christmas Table

I set the table early for Christmas dinner, just to check one item off my list!

This year I went with a combination of old and new china pieces, some I had and other pieces I picked up at one of my favorite shops Devonia Antiques in Beacon Hill. I love mixing my patterns, it makes it more interesting! I wanted to find china with raspberry tones to complement my wallpaper in the dining room, the raspberry and gilt salad plates were just too perfect!

Together, the green Minton English dinner plates and raspberry and Gilt salad plates, are so festive and classic!  I pulled in a Tiffany's bread plate with a simple gold band with a playful dot. The crystal on the table adds another layer of icing and again incorporates festive green and deep raspberry tones.  Green Venetian Glasses, on bread plate, with raised enamel and Gilt foliate decoration, Vera Wang duchess goblets, and the raspberry tone Goblets from Val St Lambert, balance the glassware. These snowflake napkins from Sferra are one of my favorites!

Off to do more wrapping! Happy Holidays to all!

P.S.

On Christmas Eve day, I make Filet of Beef Bourguignon, and let it sit over night ( which makes it even better!)  and then the next day an easy reheat in the oven.  A delicious meal! Check it out here if you want to give it a try!

All Blue Everything! My Coastal Living Idea House Tour

Coastal Living Idea House, Design By Mark D Sikes

Last friday, I was invited by Merida, along with a group of wonderful designers, to tour the Coastal Living Idea House and then for a beautiful lunch in Newport. It was a great time! How super CHIC is this lounge area!?! This is my favorite room, and I love the fact that all the fabric, even the walls are fabricated in Sunbrella fabric. Also the hand on the fabric is so nice, you really wouldn't even know it was an outdoor fabric unless someone told you! Being a Mother of two toddler boys, I am all about fabrics that wipe! Timmins enterprise is here sometimes on a weekly basis! Btw, if you don't already have your main living areas fiber-shielded I can't recommend it enough, with or without children. All my clients get this done...
After seeing this room, I think my sunroom /playroom make-over, must be done in all Sunbrella!

Enough about wipe-able fabrics, lets talk about this art!

I love how modern and fresh, the Catherine Booker Jones art makes this space feel. Such an excellent selection! Not expected and I love that!

It doesn't get more "Beachy" than Matt Albiani 's photos of lifeguards, coastal scenes,  and vintage Jeep Grand Wagoneers. Matt's LIFEGUARD ON DUTY is a must have summer house book,  and all these prints seen can be purchased through his site.

My favorite detail of the kitchen, was the pantry! I just adore this little jewel box, it is just so old school New England!

Loved this Bedroom and the Boho chic vibe.
This bed by Reid Classics is so chic and different! I am going to show it to one of my clients for their beach house.

Light and airy 2nd floor landing area, carpet by Merida - wallpaper Farrow & Ball

Love this border detail paint details in the bathroom, around the molding and the doors,  and it so functional! Just shows you how much you can do with paint.

Very fun first floor Powder Room?!!

Little Girls Room

I LOVE this coverlet fabric, by one of my favorite fabric houses Quadrille

It's cool what Mark did with the wallpaper in this space. I also think he is trying to go for a not so "matchy- matchy" vibe, more of a New England beach home that has evolved over time and is purposely NOT perfectly coordinated. I don't know that for sure...just taking a stab.
Another way you could really make this coverlet fabric POP, is if the walls were painted or wallpapered in grass cloth, in that lighter blue seen in the center of the flower in coverlet fabric. To look closer at the Henriot Floral, go here

Not sure who the drapery workroom is for all the gorgeous custom drapery in the house?! It was really well done!

Another fun MDS Stripes Carpet by Merida

One area in the mud room, love the idea of a dark color for this area.

Master bedroom - Very Serene and preppy

Foyer
Farrow & Ball wallpaper with Merida runner leading to bathroom. This carpet is named "Sardinia Sea" - such a cozy feel too (*we all needed to walk barefoot, which I love)

 What a fun guest room!

The spectacular work of David Burdeny

David Burdeny  “Rock Pool, Australia, 2016”

I have been sourcing a lot of photography for my past couple of projects. Recently, I did a massive install ( 5' x 6')  of David Burdenys Torino Piece, the black and white hallway seen below.

I really love all of his work, however wanted to share a couple of my absolute favorite pieces!

Enjoy!!

Legends 2017

Serena & Lily Window at Legends 2017                            Hotel View, Fairmont Miramar
                 Design By Burnham Design

Ah, Santa Monica...I feel like I was there yesterday! Nothing like a Summer break to empty out notes, pictures, and events of the first half of 2017, with a true highlight being Legends 2017!  I love staying in Santa Monica, I mean who doesn't love an ocean view and to get away from the Hustle & Bustle of downtown. My brother Michael, who lives in Venice, attended the events with me, we had such fun!  Here are some pics from the event and my trip, Legends 2017!!

Opening "Gala Night" night at Fig & Olive, standing room only and quite the scene. Imagine 2,000 designers in one room -- lots of personalities.
They had this enormous and gorgeous rose wall as the back drop for the step and repeat, which we did of course...however I like this one better - my dress was parachuting in the step and repeat -- still rose wall was unreal, you can see it here  unflattering parachuting dress pic here

Fig & Olive, Legend 2017 - Quite the scene

I went to a bunch of panels, one that stands out was “Off Color: Demons and Disasters in Design” Moderated by: Madeline Stuart. Stuart is seriously chic, very funny, and wickedly witty. She had the whole 90's Chanel look going on...but of course updated.

One of her design disaster confessions was ordering a sofa for one of her clients, the late and great Nora Ephron, not thinking that there was a possibility it may not fit down the NYC foyer hallway. When the movers came they explained there was no way it was getting down the hallway, it was too wide. By this time Nora had locked herself in her office because she could not take the stress....
Apparently, the husband gave the movers a couple Benjamins and somehow they porked the sofa down the hall. I can imagine it was a stressful situation...

Nate Berkus, explained how he ordered an enormous amount of Terra Cotta tile for his back yard, without a control sample - from his iphone. Despite his husband telling him not to do it...It's always funny how we designers don't want to follow the same rules for how we handle our clients orders....even though we know how wrong it could go. The color was an awful bright orange and he had to pay to ship it back and a restocking fee. Nate was so gracious and polite and I really enjoyed meeting him! Then there were a ton of hysterical design faux pas, photos, and other disasters.

Another great panel was “Floral Expressions: Empowering Pastels into Design”
Moderated by: Jessica Romm Perez, Editor-in-Chief, Domino. Amanda Lindroth, legendary Bahamian designer, told funny stories about how they sometimes need to steal flowers from there neighbors yard for centerpieces, when prepping for parties -- because of the lack of resources on the island. Aerin Lauder, told about her inspiration for her empire of gorgeous furniture and accessories.

The Therien & Co showroom was absolutely spectacular....

I am obsessed with this mirror! Zoom in on the detail of this piece! When I worked at Foster Gwin, Collier had a smaller dutch mirror like this and I would look at it all the time. This one though, is massive and so striking in person.

Below are some other favorite shots from the Showroom!

This console with a perfect large abstract painting above it 👌
